BYROMVILLE — Traffic was halted for a while Wednesday morning when the driver of a hydroplaning Mustang lost control resulting in a collision with a pick up truck and tractor/trailer.

Georgia State Patrol Post 30 along with law enforcement, fire and rescue and EMS personnel from Dooly and Macon Counties responded to the call just before 10:30 a.m. on Ga. Hwy. 90, fpour-tenths of a mile west of Lester Road.

Apparently the Mustang driver identified as Michelle Kitchens of Dooly County was traveling west on Hwy. 90 when water on the road caused her vehicle to hydroplane, according to information released by State Patrol Trooper Brent Womble.

Kitchens lost control of the vehicle and veered into the path of a GMC Sierra driven by Macon County Sheriff Charles Cannon, Womble said.

The Sierra, which was pulling a trailer, ran off the eastbound side of the road, and the Mustang stopped in the roadway where it was struck again by a westbound tractor/trailer driven by Kelvin Joiner of Macon County, the trooper added.

Kitchens, and two passengers in the Mustang were taken by ambulance to Crisp Regional Hospital. Sheriff Cannon was taken, also by ambulance, to the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon. A passenger riding with Cannon was transported to Flint River Hospital in Montezuma, Womble said.

Joiner and his passenger escaped injury. An investigation is ongoing.
