AMERICUS — The Georgia Southwestern Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees elected one new member and re-elected three current members to the 35 member group at a recent meeting.
GSW Foundation names Norma Turton trustee

AMERICUS — The Georgia Southwestern Foundation, Inc. Board of Trustees elected one new member and re-elected three current members to the 35 member group at a recent meeting.
Nominated and elected by their peers, the trustees provide external oversight to the Foundation's operations.
Cordele resident and 1968 graduate of Georgia Southwestern College (GSW) Norma S. Turton was elected as the board's newest member. Her three-year term is effective immediately.
A pianist by trade, Turton earned a Bachelor of Science from GSW. She is a charter member of the Cordele Fine Arts Club where she served as president three times and a member of the Cordele Symphony Club serving as president twice.
Turton has been a member of Cordele First United Methodist Church for 30 years. She is married to real estate entrepreneur Henry Malin Turton, Jr., and the couple has three children, Bill, Ellen and Shearer.
The Foundation provides funds for Georgia Southwestern and manages assets and gift accounts for the University. The Foundation's purpose is to promote in various ways the cause of higher education in the state of Georgia, with particular emphasis on the development of Georgia Southwestern State University.
