With STAFF REPORTS
CORDELE — Three Crisp County women were arrested Wednesday in connection with an investigation into the distribution and sale of methamphetamine in the local community.
Charged were 44-year-old Lagail S. Lewis of 469 Lakeshore Way, her roommate, 41-year-old Michelle S. Hughes and Glenda P. Worley, 54, of 814 Bedgood Road, Arabi.
Their arrests came as the result of an investigation during which agents with the Mid-South Narcotics Task Force were able to purchase a quantity of methamphetamine from Lewis. That, in turn, led to a search warrant being obtained and served at her residence Wednesday afternoon. When the warrant was served, the two other women were at the home with Lewis.
During the search of the home, agents found approximately four grams of methamphetamine, valued at $400, along with scales, packaging materials and other items used to distribute meth. They also located a small amount of marijuana.
As a result of the investigation and the search of the home, agents charged Lewis with sale of methamphetamine and possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Hughes was charged with possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine and Worley was charged with possession of methamphetamine.
All three suspects are currently being held at the Crisp County Detention Center.
