CORDELE — Police have added new charges against a woman who allegedly stabbed another woman earlier this week after catching her with her boyfriend.
Already facing a charge of disorderly conduct in relation to the March 15 incident, Cassandra Deriso, 26, of 406-B W. 23rd Ave. has now been charged with aggravated assault (knife) and burglary. The charges are the result of a follow-up investigation into last Saturday’s fight between Deriso, the victim and Deriso’s boyfriend.
According to reports from the Cordele Police Department, Sgt. Carrie Lull responded to Crisp Regional Hospital that night in reference to a reported stabbing.
Lull spoke with the victim who said she was with a male subject at his brother’s house on West Ninth Avenue when Deriso, the man’s girlfriend, came over and knocked on the door. Before anyone could answer, Deriso forced the front door open and physically attacked the victim, ultimately stabbing her in the head with a kitchen knife. The victim was hospitalized as a result.
After being questioned on Saturday, police charged Deriso with disorderly conduct, but after further investigation, were able to gather enough evidence to add the other two charges.
Deriso was arrested and taken to the Crisp County Detention Center.
