CORDELE — Easter came early for 19 lucky winners in the Cordele Main Street and Downtown Business Organization’s 2008 Jelly Bean Contest.

Renee Fraser, president of the DBO, said jars filled with jelly beans were placed at 19 downtown businesses and participants were asked to guess the number of jelly beans in the jar. Those closest to the right number, won a prize donated by the business.

“The prizes can be anything from a giant Easter basket to service for your car to just about anything the business wants to donate,” said Fraser.

This year’s sponsors, winners and their prizes are:

• Cordele Carnegie Library, Tanner Stevens and Abby Stevens, Easter baskets

• Crisp County Power, Viola Johnson, $100 credit on power bill

• Hurt & Associates, Luann Whittington, simple will

• Hurt Motor Company, Tammy Menuel, child’s Easter basket

• PlantersFIRST, Kelwaski “Little Man” Brown, large Easter basket and jelly beans

• Mike Fraser’s Auto Repair, Connie Hutto, Easter bunny and Easter basket with goodies and prize egg

• GTC Fitness, Thaddeus Laidler, bottle of “More than a Multi” vitamins

• Regions Bank, Robert Yowe, $50 savings bond
