CORDELE — The Lioness Club of Cordele will be accepting entry forms from young ladies in Crisp County and the surrounding area starting April 15. The ladies will once again vie for four coveted titles at the 2008 Watermelon Capital Queen Pageant on June 14.
The deadline for entry forms will be May 27. Contestants will compete in four different age groups. They are Little Miss Melon (ages 4-6), Young Miss Melon (7-11) Jr. Miss Melon (12-16), and Watermelon Capital Queen (17-21).
The new queens will represent the citizens of Cordele as they reign over the annual Watermelon Days Festival. The 2008 Watermelon Capital Queen will be the master of ceremonies for the 2009 pageant.
