Published April 16, 2009 09:10 pm - VIENNA — Dooly County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2009 Professional Woman’s Luncheon in recognition of the many dedicated women that contribute to the Dooly County workforce.
Luncheon set for Friday
VIENNA — Dooly County Chamber of Commerce is hosting the 2009 Professional Woman’s Luncheon in recognition of the many dedicated women that contribute to the Dooly County workforce.
This luncheon will be held on Friday, April 24 at the Vienna First Baptist Church social hall at 11:30 a.m. Tickets are $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-members.
Keynote speaker for this year is Cindy Gaskins who is the founder and director of the Jay’s Hope Foundation, Inc. in Macon.
Jay’s Hope is a 501c3 charity that supports and ministers to children with cancer and their families in Middle Georgia.
Ms. Gaskins is a native of Brunswick, and has a degree in human services from Mercer University. She has 13 years of human service experience in the Middle Georgia community and previously worked with abused children at The Methodist Home for Children and Youth.
She is actively involved with the Ronald McDonald House, Children’s Hospital of Central Georgia, Rooms from the Heart, National Marrow Donor Program, CURE Childhood Cancer and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Currently, Ms. Gaskins serves on the board of directors for Rooms from the Heart and was recently named Georgia’s Young Mother of the Year and one of Macon’s Five Under Forty Young Business Leaders for 2008.
She and her husband, Jason, live in Gray with their two children, 9 year old Kaitlyn and 4 year old Tanner. Their five-year-old son, Jay passed away from cancer in 2006.
