CORDELE — A woman going on a Sunday afternoon shopping trip to the local Wal-Mart was robbed before she had the chance to buy anything.
Cordele Police officer Pfc. Jesse Barfield responded to the 16th Ave. business location shortly after 5:30 p.m. Sunday in reference to the incident.
Upon arrival, Barfield met with the victim who said that while she was in the parking lot, a white man with black hair and wearing a red shirt and a red hat snatched her wallet out of her hands and took off running south.
The victim said she observed the man run toward Ameris Bank on East 16th Avenue and get into a dark-colored SUV, then flee the scene headed southbound on Schley Avenue.
The victim couldn’t provide much more, only that the suspect was about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighed about 200 pounds.
Police officers searched the area, but were unable to locate the suspect or the SUV.
Anyone with information regarding the incident should call the police department at 276-2921.
