CORDELE - Five vacant positions on the Southwest Georgia United Empowerment Zone Board of Directors will be filled during Monday’s annual membership meeting here.
Everyone who lives in the Empowerment Zone which includes all of Dooly and most of Crisp counties is urged to attend. The meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the Cordele Community Clubhouse. Light refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m.
Two Crisp County and three Dooly County vacant positions will be filled. One resident of Crisp County Tract 9803 and another who lives in Dooly Tract 9703 are needed to complete the Board. Interested persons should contact the EZ office at 229-268-7592 to learn if they live in either of these tracts and let the staff know of their interest.
Other vacant positions include Dooly County media, Dooly social services and Crisp County High School ex-officio.
There are 10 other Crisp positions which expire this year, and those members must be re-elected or replaced. Sandy Harpe currently represents technical education.
The law enforcement representative is John Wiggins; social services, Deborah Smith; existing industry, Harry Kieffer; public, Susan Leger-Boike; media, Willie Patrick and churches, L. D. Cobb.
Representatives from the various tracts in the EZ include Vesta Shephard and Rosa McKenzie from Tract 9801; Dorothy Clark and Ruth Rogers from Tract 9802 and Willie Mae Leary from Tract 9803.
