CORDELE — Four people were arrested in two separate incidents here recently and charged with the possession, manufacture, sale and/or purchase of marijuana.

Crisp Sheriff Donnie Haralson said three Houston County men were cited on April 30 after the driver was stopped for failing to keep right except when passing and not signaling when changing lanes on I-75.

The subjects were identified as Phillip Harold Smith of Kathleen, Tommie Lanardo Holloway of Kathleen and Jason Jamaine Campbell of Bonaire.

When asked where they were coming from, Haralson said two of the subjects gave conflicting stories. The deputy then requested and received permission to search the Dodge Neon in which they were traveling.

In the back floorboard, a razor blade and a small bag containing suspected marijuana residue, loose tobacco from a cigar and a pack of cigars were found.

A foot locker bag that contained some clothing and a gallon bag of suspected marijuana wrapped in a shirt were found in the trunk.

At that point the subjects were arrested.

The second incident occurred this past Tuesday. A Chevrolet Impala going north on I-75 was stopped for having extremely dark windows.

While the deputy was talking to the driver who was identified as Windell Shamon Alvin of a Cordele address, he seemed nervous, Haralson reported. He also refused to allow the deputy to search the vehicle.

Alvin did, however, say he had a weapon under the driver’s seat, and he allowed the officer to retrieve it. The subject also admitted that he had some personal use marijuana in his pocket.

At that point, he was handcuffed, and officers initiated a search. Five bags of suspected marijuana were located in a black plastic bag in the trunk, Haralson said.

Both Alvin and his male passenger were transported to jail, but when Alvin admitted that the marijuana was his, the passenger was released.
