CORDELE — Stripling’s General Store, recently featured in Suzanne Lawler’s “More Cotton, Cornbread and Conversations: 50 New Adventures in Central Georgia,” will be hosting a book signing Saturday, May 19 beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Highway 300 location.
“More Cotton, Cornbread and Conversations” is a second survey of some of the best places to visit in Central Georgia.
Lawler introduces you to interesting folks from that stretch from Dublin to Sparta, down I-75 to Cordele (specifically Stripling’s), and everywhere in between.
She scouted high and low for day trips that you and the kids will enjoy as you travel in Central Georgia. Every adventure comes with logistical information for quick and easy reference.
Lawler, highlighting Stripling’s on pages 148-151, is quoted as saying, “If you really like sausage – and I’m talking about the real stuff, not that bright red pre-packaged meat, but real right-off-the-bone sausage – then there’s one place in Central Georgia you’ve got to check out.” She even shares a few of Stripling’s recipes with her readers!
Lawler began broadcasting in her hometown of St. Petersburg, Fla., at Vision Cable. She traveled north to join the 13WMAZ family 1994, and fell in love with the Central Georgia area.
Not many journalists get to do everything they love in the newsroom. During the week Lawler covers sports. You’ll even see her on the sidelines with the “Football Friday Night” crews.
She also hosts “Weekend Mornin’,” and has been recognized for her field reporting by the Associated Press and the Georgia Association of Broadcasters.
Don’t miss a chance to get a signed copy of Lawler’s book and the chance to see what Stripling’s is all about.
