CORDELE - Big Brothers Big Sisters of South Georgia honored Crisp area volunteers with a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner April 24 at the First Methodist Church in Cordele.
Cordele-Crisp Community League hosted the event, providing the meal and the venue. Each volunteer received a certificate of appreciation.
A plaque was awarded to Mrs. Elayne Denham who was named “Big Sister of the Year.” Danny Kimbrel was recognized with the “Big Buddy of the Year” award.
A.S. Clark Elementary School received the “Big Brothers Big Sisters School of the Year” banner for having the most matches this school year.
Melissa Taylor, program manager of the Cordele satellite office said, “this was a great way to say thank you to our volunteers, and we hope that they all enjoyed it. A BIG THANKS goes out to the Cordele-Crisp Community League.”
Taylor explains that every child needs a mentor. “It takes just 30 minutes to an hour once a week to make a difference in a child’s life,” she says.
Anyone who has questions, comments, or would like to become involved with Big Brothers Big Sisters, should call Taylor at 276-0042.
