CORDELE — Time to let that hair down, put on your dancing shoes (or boots) and head down to Lion’s Park.
It’s getting close to time for the annual Watermelon Days Dance sponsored by the Cordele-Crisp Chamber Ambassador Corps. The party begins on Friday night, June 13 at 8 p.m.
The Brandi Thornton Band will take the stage to provide the music for the event. In addition to the band there will also be a D.J. to provide additional tunes to carry into the night.
In the spirit of Watermelon season the theme for this year’s dance is “Down on the farm.” After all, without farms there would be no melons. So it doesn’t matter whether you want to twist and shout, boot scoot boogie, or do the watermelon crawl this is the hoe-down for you.
There will be plenty of hors d’ oeuvres to help keep dancers going between songs. The event is also a B.Y.O.B. for those that wish to do so. Advance tickets are on sale right now! Cost is $15 for a single and $25 per couple. Tables that seat eight people are also available for $120.
“We have so many local sponsors that come out each year and help support this,” said Kristy Morris. “All proceeds go to provide educational scholarships within the community.
