VIENNA— In conjunction with the “Key Ingredients: American By Food” exhibition, the Vienna Historic Preservation Society is sponsoring a “Let’s Go Nuts” Dessert Competition.
People from all of Dooly County and surrounding counties are invited to submit their finest confections to be judged in four categories: cakes, pies, cookies, and candy. There is just one hitch. To capture the official title of the competition, all entries must contain either pecans or peanuts.
Judging will take place on Saturday, July 19 at the Vienna Housing Authority Office at 700 Fitzpatrick Place. All entries must be submitted at 9 a.m. sharp and will be judged on presentation as well as taste.
Winners will be announced immediately following the judging. An overall grand prize winner will receive $100.
You do not have to be present to win.
“Key Ingredients” is all about food and the role food has played in shaping the culture and heritage of the nation. This dessert competition focuses on the importance of pecans and peanuts as a major crop in Dooly County.
