Advanced voting for the Nov. 3 city elections in the tri-county area begins next Monday, Oct. 26 and continues through Friday, Oct. 30.
Voters should check with their respective city halls if they do not know where to go for advanced voting.
All three of the Cordele city commissioners whose terms expire this year have opposition in that election.
Long-time Chairman Zack Wade faces Jamie C. Fernandez and Antwoin Yowe. The chairman is elected at-large which means that all registered voters in the city of Cordele can vote in that election.
Willie Colson Jr. who currently represents Ward II has opposition from Curtis Lucas Jr.
Jeanie Bartee, the current Ward III commissioner has opposition from John Lee Bagwell and Larry Felton. Only residents of those respective wards can vote in each of the ward elections.
Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce presented a political forum to which each of these candidates was invited this past Monday night. See a related story elsewhere in this edition about the forum.
Unadilla, Pinehurst and Abbeville voters also will be having city elections this year.
Three council seats are up for grabs in Unadilla, and six individuals are seeking those at-large positions. The three candidates who poll the most votes will be the new council members.
Running for those seats are incumbents Dexter Whittaker and Clint Shugart who are joined by Meredith Lester, Charles Doster, Earle Hudson and Harold Bryant.
Bryant has just been appointed to complete the term of Tony Lester who resigned several weeks ago. HIs was one of the terms that expires at the end of this year.
Incumbent Abbeville Mayor Gene Tomberlin faces opposition from Michael Edward Kling Jr. In Pinehurst, incumbent Councilman Harold Bowden must run against Josephine Greene.
