CORDELE — Cordele Main Street and the Downtown Business Organization are gearing up for what has become one of the Christmas season’s most festive events.

The Annual Christmas Tour of Homes is slated for Sunday, Dec. 2 and tickets, which also serve as the event’s program, are on sale now for $12 each.

Now in its 13th year, the event will begin with a reception from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at the Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club. The tour will be from 2:30-5:30 p.m. and features several different styles of homes, an assisted and independent living facility, and even one business.

Following the reception, attendees will follow the map included inside the program and see the homes of Cary and Lara Purvis at 910 S. First St., Charles and Faye Owens at 716 E. 24th Ave., Danny and Carol Ross at 619 E. 13th Ave. also known as the John Churchwell House, and Mike and Shelvia Koontz at 100 Bridle Path. Also, Cordelia Manor Independent and Assisted Living and the newly opened SanCheff Fine Dining & Gourmet Catering at 209 E. 12th Ave.

“We’ve always had such beautiful houses on the tour and this year is no different,” said Elaine Worley, director of Cordele Main Street. “We’ve had people come from as far away as Athens, Marietta and St. Simons Island at tours in the past and we’re hoping we’ll have them and many more again this year!”

Worley said there will be doorprizes given away during the reception and winners must be present to claim their prize. Also, all proceeds raised during the event are put back into the purchase of Christmas decorations for downtown Cordele.

Tickets are available at the Main Street office on the second floor of City Hall, the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce, Fraser’s Auto, J.W. Designs, the Lake Blackshear Resort & Golf Club and Cordele-Crisp Carnegie Library. Other locations may be added later. For more information call Worley at 276-2902, co-chair of the event Rita Adams at 273-8608 or Renee Fraser, president of the DBO at 273-0652.
