CORDELE — Open casting calls for the movie “Exit 101” which will be shot locally begin Saturday, Dec. 5 at 8 a.m. at the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce location on 16th Ave. E.

William Mahnken, asst. director of cinematography and public relations for Black Flight Studios says, “we have six lead roles to fill, as well as about 20 supporting roles. Information on these roles can be found at http://exit101movie.blogspot.com/.”

This call, he added, is for speaking roles only. No extras are needed at this time. Offers will not be made on the 5th, but auditions will be scheduled.

Mahnken says, “no experience is necessary, but applicants will need to bring a recent close-up photo, preferably 5x7 or 8x10, and be prepared to read lines from the script. First impressions are very important,” he adds.

For additional information about the movie or the casting call, interested persons may contact Joseph Lavender, the director and writer at azmyth@gmail.com or 229-322-8507.

Actual filming for “Exit 101” is scheduled to start in January or February. The entire movie will be shot in the Cordele area. Lavender anticipates using a variety of venues including the Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park.

He describes “Exit 101” as a fictional horror movie that will have some elements of truth, especially concerning Cordele’s famed missile which sits near Exit 101 of I-75. The movie will be family-friendly and should be suitable for most ages, he adds.

Lavender has written the script, and he will be directing, producing and acting. Professional photographer Doug Cole of Valdosta will serve as director of photography.
