A father is behind bars, facing charges that he abused his four-month-old child.
Billy Ray Cook Jr.,23, of 2116 Eisenhower St., was arrested Monday and charged with first-degree cruelty to children, according to reports from Lt. Teresa Miller with the Investigative Division of the Crisp County Sheriff’s Office. Miller was notified Monday by Crisp Regional Hospital staff of a possible child abuse case involving a four-month-old child.
Medical staff advised investigators that the child suffered multiple fractures in various stages of healing.
An extensive interview with both parents of the child led to Cook’s arrest, Miller said. The investigation continues and authorities advise that there is a possibility of additional charges being filed.
