An early Sunday morning disturbance that began at a local club subsequently led to multiple charges being filed against a 50-year-old man the Cordele Police Department lists as homeless.
Information provided news media members on Monday identified the alleged offender as Charles Anthony McGruder who was taken into custody about 2:30 a.m. Sunday on the Sunset Homes parking lot.
Officers responding to the disturbance call said McGruder and his passenger led them on a short chase. When their vehicle stopped, the passenger immediately fled the area on foot.
McGruder was taken into custody on an assortment of charges. The second subject involved in the case is still being sought.
