Police arrest man they say fled on foot after brief Feb. 9 car chase

Cordele — City police have made a second arrest in connection with the brief Feb. 9 chase of a car driven by a 50-year-old homeless man, Charles Anthony McGruder.

A recent arrest summary sent news media members on Thursday identified Torrence Dwan Johnson, 42, of Warner Robins, as the person who fled on foot when the chase ended on the Sunset Homes parking lot.

He has been cited for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obstruction of a law enforcement officer in the performance of his duties, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and illegal possession of a controlled substance.

Similar charges were levied against McGruder who along with Johnson is accused of threatening another party with whom they had been involved in an apparent altercation after leaving a club on the west side of the city. He also was cited for DUI drugs and/or alcohol and fleeing.
