Quadruple homicide suspect apprehended in traffic stop

Cordele — What began as an I-75 speeding stop Wednesday afternoon by a Crisp County deputy ultimately ended in the arrest of a Florida man wanted in correlation to a quadruple homicide in Jamaica and three shootings in Florida.

In providing details of the incident, Capt. Brian Hobbs said Deputy Bo Duckworth stopped a northbound 2010 Toyota for traveling 25 mph over the posted speed limit of 70.

When the offender gave a conflicting name and social security number, he was transported to the Law Enforcement Center where he was fingerprinted on a “Live Scan” device to determine his true identity.

The results confirmed the suspect to be Nicholas Gooden, 23, of Lauderdale Lakes, Fla.

When that information was submitted through the Georgia Crime Information Center, it was learned he was being sought by Immigration and Customs in Florida. He was transported to a federal court hearing Thursday morning.
