Authorities raid spa

UNADILLA — Officials with the Dooly County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of investigation raided a local spa that had been under investigation.

According to reports from the DCSO, officers had received a number of nuisance complaints from citizens in reference to Jade Spa located at 632 Pine Street.

Those complaints prompted an investigation at which time officers discovered the business was being used for more than just a typical massage.

Investigators arrested Pun Cha Choi, 63, on charges of keeping a place of prostitution. Arrested along with her was Jungsoon Jung, 43, who faces charges of prostitution and giving an unlawful massage.

According to Georgia law, it is unlawful for any masseur or masseuse to massage any person in a building or structure or place that is used for the purpose of lewdness, assignation, prostitution or other sexual acts for hire.

A third subject, Jung Ock Dang, 38, was also arrested and charged with obstruction of an officer. Dang and one other attempted to elude arrest by fleeing the establishment as law enforcement entered the building.

There are other spas in the area including the Peach Spa in Pinehurst, which has re-opened after being closed by law enforcement. There is also a new spa coming to the area around Exit 122 on i-75.

“The Jade Spa is currently closed,” said Randy Lamberth of the DCSO. “There is no evidence that any illegal activity is going on in other spas. We are going to be talking with both business and property owners asking them to be aware of what is going on in these businesses.

“Once they have been advised, any future incidents could result in them facing charges as well. We are not expecting any more arrests at this time.”
