Georgia Department of Labor schedules job fair in Cordele


CORDELE — State Labor Commissioner Michael Thurmond announced recently that the Ga. Department of Labor’s Cordele Career Center and South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) will co-sponsor a job fair for employers and job seekers in the area.

The job fair will be held Tuesday, Oct. 16 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at SGTC, 402 North Midway Road.

Commissioner Thurmond said, “This job fair is designed to bring employers and organizations in the Cordele area together with job seekers who are looking for employment or career guidance. Job seekers will receive cutting edge information on job search, career planning, and other valuable services to help them reach their full workplace potential.”

The event will feature about 30 employers who are expected to participate in the event that will be hiring to fill current job openings including American General, Albany Police Department, City of Cordele government, Cordele Police Department, Crisp County Sheriff’s office, Crisp Regional Youth Development Center, Dooly State Prison, Flex-Tec, Georgia’s Department of Juvenile Justice, Golden Foundry and Machine Company, Harris Waste Management Group, Helena Industries, Nordbord, Planters FIRST Bank, Southern Home Care Service, Tyson, U.S. Ethanol, and Verizon Wireless.

In addition, other employers will be discussing possible future employment opportunities with the job seekers, while other organizations will be providing educational and other resources. Applicants should bring plenty of resumes and be prepared to fill out company applications and interview for available job openings.
