Police arrests suspects

Rochelle — Three teens have been arrested in connection with an Oct. 27 burglary at Our Place restaurant here, Police Chief Keith McDuffie reported.

McDuffie said one of the suspects, Quintavious Prather, 17, of Ashburn, was taken into custody on an unrelated charge Nov. 8. While Prather was being held at the Rochelle Police Department, the chief overheard him talking about the burglary at Our Place, he said.

“I read him his rights, then began to question him,” McDuffie said. “He admitted that he was involved in the burglary and named two other suspects.”

Also arrested were Travis Batton, 18, of Rochelle and a 16 year old juvenile, both of whom told the chief that they had a part in the burglary. All three teens were charged with commercial burglary.

Prather also had been arrested for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana and DUI in Rochelle by Assistant Chief Michael McDuffie. The chief said Prather has been released on bond. The juvenile was being held at a youth detention center, and Batton remained in custody as well.

McDuffie said he appreciates any information that citizens can provide about criminal activity. “If you see anything out of the ordinary, please call us at 365-2246, and we will investigate. I urge everyone to be diligent,” he said.

Rochelle police continue to probe several other burglaries. McDuffie says he is not sure if they are related.
