Police arrest pair in connection with strong-arm robbery

Cordele — City police have arrested two of five local men allegedly involved in a strong-armed robbery and have charged two Floridians with bringing stolen property into the state and theft by taking.

Booked for the former crime are Eric Mason, 514 First Ave. E., and D’Kevius Appling, 17, of 516 Fifth Ave. E. They and three others still being sought are accused of “jumping” and striking their victim a couple of times in a Monday attack at Morningside Homes.

The victim said the offenders took from him a pouch that contained both cash and other personal items. Based on the “good description” the victim was able to give investigating officers, Mason and Appling were later found close to the scene and taken into custody.
