In what is considered a “copycat case” of an incident reported eight days earlier, authorities have charged a 12-year-old boy with making a false public alarm last Friday at Crisp Middle School.
A report filed by Cordele Police Department Sgt. Dedra Davis said an assistant principal at that location alerted officers around 10:30 a.m. that a note reading, “I’m going to blow up Crisp County Middle School at 12:30” had been found in the boys restroom.
With school officials having immediately determined who was responsible for the incident, police and other emergency personnel did not have to rush to the school to conduct a bomb search.
A similar note had been found in the girls’ restroom on Valentine’s Day when a 14-year-old female student made reference to a “bomb surprise” at the same time mentioned in the latest incident.
In other activity during the weekend, officers:
— Cited a 15-year-old male for being an unruly juvenile on Saturday. Georgia law prohibits identification of offenders under the age of 17.
— Filed battery charges on Saturday against Angela “ATL” Bigby, 52, of 607 27th Ave. W, and on Sunday again Daniel Korey Penny, 30, of 507 Ninth Ave. E.,
— Picked up Barbara McRae, 52, of 605 18th Ave. W., on Saturday for a probation violation.
— Issued traffic citations on Saturday to two drivers.
Helen Collins Caraway, 66, of 1303-F Eighth Ave. E. was charged with a stop sign violation and a second offense of DUI.
Delfino Rivera, 55, of 1610 U.S. Hwy. 41 N., was booked for a driver’s license violation and failure to yield right-of-way.
