Funeral services for Dennis W. Nutt were held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011 in the chapel of Hughes and Wright Funeral Home. Burial followed at Sandy Mount Cemetery.
Rev. Tommy Stewart and Rev. Kenneth Pittman officiated the service. Betty Stewart played for the service and also accompanied herself on the piano as she sang “God on the Mountain.” Deborah Pittman and Shirley Poole sang “Serenaded by Angels.” At the conclusion of the service Betty Stewart sang “Amazing Grace.”
Pallbearers were Billy Nutt, Graham Nutt, Dewayne Nutt, Kenneth Nutt, Larry Wallace and Chris Patterson.
Mr. Nutt, 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 13, 2011 at Dodge County Hospital. He was born in Ocilla to the late Willard Kenneth Nutt and the late Rosa Bell Smith Nutt. Mr. Nutt was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his wife, Imogene Nutt of Cordele; sons, Roger William Nutt and his wife Debbie of Lilly, Darrell Dennis Nutt and his wife Peggy of Roanoke, AL.; a daughter, Jennifer Nichole Gilliam and her husband Keith of Cordele; brothers, Ralph Nutt and his wife Norma of Cordele, Junior Nutt and Wayne Nutt, both of Pitts; sisters, Ruth Rich, Erma Massey and Janelle Wallace and her husband Otis, all of Pitts; grandchildren, Dwayne Nutt and his wife Amber, Kenneth Nutt, Stephanie Cusumano and her husband Joe, Amelia Gilliam, Bricen Gilliam; and ten great-grandchildren.
The family received friends at the funeral home Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Memorial gifts may be sent to The American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692.
