Booker T. Chaney

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Elder Booker T. Chaney, 71, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 10 in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Gum Creek Cemetery. Dr. Laverne Martin will officiate.

Elder Chaney died Wednesday, December 7, 2005.

Processional will be led by Dr. Laverne Martin. Dr. Martin will also provide prayer and lead the congregation in song. Scripture readings will be presented by Minister Bobby L. Graydon. Reflections will be given by family members and friends. The family will be presented with an African American Heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the funeral home staff.

Survivors include devoted nieces and nephews, Dr. Laverne (Jerome) Martin, Charlie (Bonnie) Henderson, Leroy Henderson, Delois (Arnett) Rawls, Buford (Vivian) Royal Jr., Clara Simmons, Viola Johnson, Vera (Arthur) James, Deacon Eddie (Veronica) Porter Jr., James (Thelma) Porter, Marie Porter, Geraldine Ford, Randolph (Bonnie) Porter, Jessie (Susie) Blount, all of Cordele, MSGT. Nathaniel (Linda) Royal of Warner Robins and Booker T. Porter of Tallahassee, Fla.; an aunt, Charlotte Chaney of Vienna; sister-in-law, Catherine Kelly of Cordele and special cousins, Anna Rogers of Florida and Minnie Dixon of Cordele.

Lucillie B. Porter

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Lucillie B. Porter, 81, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, December 10 in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. The burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery with Bishop Willie Frank Prather officiating.

Mrs. Porter died Tuesday, December 6, 2005.

Processional will be led by Bishop Willie Frank Prather with a musical selection given by Annette, Joann, and Fannie. Prayer will be given by Elder Clarence Johnson with scripture readings by Pastor Gladys Dirsaw and Evangelist Brenda Smith. A solo will be given by Pamela Parham and Janie Porter. Reflections will be given by family members and friends. The family will be presented with an African American Heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the funeral home staff.

Survivors include her children, Clara Simmons, Viola Johnson, Vera (Arthur) James, Deacon Eddie (Veronica) Porter Jr., James (Thelma) Porter, Marie Porter, Geraldine Ford, Randolph (Bonnie) Porter, and Jessie (Susie) Blount, all of Cordele, and Booker T. Porter of Tallahassee, Fla.; sister-in-law, Catherine Kelly of Cordele; devoted cousins, Anna Rogers of Florida and Minnie Dixon of Cordele; 53 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Inez Whitehead Kendrick

UNADILLA -- Funeral services for Inez Whitehead Kendrick, 73, will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 11 in the sanctuary of the Big Poplar Spring Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Mariah Church Cemetery with Rev. Steve Askew officiating.

Mrs. Kendrick died Wednesday, December 7, 2005.

The Processional will be led by Rev. Askew with Bethel Baptist Church Choir providing the music. Prayer will be given by Brother Larry Stegal with scripture reading by Rev. Dr. Bobby G. West. A solo will be presented by Sister Mary Taylor and a family tribute will be given by her daughter, Pam Field with reflections from other family members and friends. The family will be presented with an African American Heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the funeral home staff.

Survivors include her husband, Willie C. Kendrick of Unadilla; father, Deacon Tyme W. Whitehead Sr. of Unadilla; children, Elnora (David) Harris of Boston, MA, Carl (Gale) Whitehead of Unadilla, Emory (Annette) Kendrick of Macon, Clara (Charles) Smith of Atlanta, Bruce (Carolyn) Kendrick Sr. of Unadilla, Pricenthia K. (Lucious) Hill of Macon, Joshua Kendrick of Unadilla and Clarietta P. (Willie) Fields of Vienna; sisters, Mildred (Johnny) Reese of Unadilla, Mervin (Cecil) Miles of Boston, MA, and Juanita (Lerman) Phelps of Orlando, Fla.; aunt, Kadell Byron of Grandville, N.C.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Ella Whitehead of Bainbridge, Litcey Walker of Florida, Mary Griffin of Florida, James (Pat) McIntee of Alabama, James (Annie) Kendrick, Arthur Kendrick, Myral (Barbara) Kendrick, Ruth (Jessie) Wallace, Flora (Lorenza) Foster, Donella McIntee and Mattie (Willie James) Foster, all of Florida; 28 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

J.C. Coney

CORDELE -- Funeral services for J.C. Coney, 95, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 2005 in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. The burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery with the Pastor Kenneth M. Williams officiating.

Mr. Coney died Friday, December 2.

Processional will be led by Pastor Williams with music rendered by the Greater Morris Tabernacle Mass Choir. Prayer and scripture reading will be given by Pastor Williams and reflections will be given by Deacon Charles Owens and Deacon James Smith. A family tribute will be given by his daughter, Evelyn C. Binns. The family will be presented with an African American Heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the funeral home staff. The Greater Morris Brotherhood Ministry will serve as pallbearers.

Survivors include his children, Vera Mae Coney and Mae Nell (Gregory) Blakely, both of Norman Park and Evelyn (Rudolph) Binns of Warner Robins; two step-daughters, Willie Bell (Eugene) Watts of Atlanta and Betty Dance of New York, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends to include the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church family.

Lillie Mae "Disey" Kearse

CORDELE -- Funeral services for Lillie Mae "Disey" Kearse, 58, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 10 in the sanctuary of the Greater Morris Tabernacle Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Westview Cemetery. The Rev. Isaac H. Owens will officiate.

Miss Kearse died Saturday, December 3.

Processional will be led by Rev. Owens and a selection will be presented by Greater Morris Church Choir. Prayer will be led by Deacon Charles Wilson with scripture reading by Delia Snead and Lottie Wilson. Musical medley will be presented by Erskine Weaver with a solo by Jan Tisdol. Reflections will be given by classmates, family members and friends. The family will be presented with an African American Heirloom Bible as a keepsake from the Funeral Home staff.

Survivors include her brothers, Jim D. (Catherine) Kearse of Cocoa, Fla., Willie James Kearse and Earnest L. Kearse, both of Cordele; sisters, Catherine Brown (Wilk Livingston) and Christine (William Henry) Dennis Jr., both of Cocoa, Fla. and Gloria Jean Kearse of Cordele; aunts and uncles, Willie Mae Kearse of Cocoa, Fla., Willie Mae Bynoe of Ft. Pierce, Fla., Christine Benjamin, Beatrice Rump, Juanita Moore, Hasten Kearse, and Bud Kearse, all of Belle Glade, Fla., Elnora (Ben) Randolph of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Naomi (Blondie) Kearse of Texas and Chester Kearse of Florida.

Limuel "Al" Burnette

CORDELE -- Funeral services were held for Limuel "Al" Burnette at 11 a.m Thursday, December 8, 2005, at Seville Baptist Church. Rev. Lee Breedlove and Rev. Tim Morgan officiated the services

. Burial followed in the Seville Cemetery with HM3 Hinkle, U.S. Navy, and HM3 Pitts, U.S. Navy, folding and presenting the American Flag to Mrs. Burnette.

Marcene Freeman, pianist, provided soft music for the service. She also accompanied herself and Rev. Royce Freeman as they sang "Somewhere My Love". She also accompanied Rev. Freeman as he led the congregation in singing "Eternal Father, Strong to Save".

Pallbearers were Mr. Burnette's sons: Jeffrey Burnette and Jerry Burnette; a grandson, Andy Burnette; and nephews: Ray Abrams, Bobby Bragg and David Thompson.
