Mildred Ruth Jones and Marion Goodrich Jones

INVERNESS, Fla. — Memorial services for Mildred Ruth (Hicks) Jones, 88, and her husband, Marion Goodrich Jones, 91, both of Inverness, Fla., will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, in the Rose Room of Rainey Family Funeral Service. The Rev. Larry Wilbanks, pastor of Morningside Baptist Church, will officiate.

Mrs. Jones died Saturday, Dec. 24, 2005, and Mr. Jones died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, in Inverness.

She was born Oct. 13, 1917, in Abbeville, the daughter of the late William and Minnie Hicks. She was a 1936 graduate of Cordele High School and had been employed by the Federal Reserve Bank in Atlanta. She and her husband of 66 years had lived in Florida for 44 years, having moved there from Atlanta. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Inverness, and was an avid bridge player.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her brother, William R. Hicks Jr. and his wife, Betty of Macon (both formerly of Cordele); a sister, Mae Kelly (formerly of Cordele) and her husband, Fred (formerly of Vienna) of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jones, a native of Fayetteville, Tenn., was born July 5, 1914, the son of the late Massey and Adeline Jones. He was the retired manager of a Coca-Cola Plant. He also was an avid bridge player and outdoorsman, who enjoyed wildlife, fishing and bird-watching.

Mr. Jones is survived by a niece, Kathy Caldwell of Gainesville.

Rainey Family Funeral Service of Cordele has charge of the arrangements.

Alfred Allen Hawkins

VIENNA — Funeral services for Alfred Allen Hawkins were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, in the Vienna First Baptist Church. The Rev. Phil Streetman and Dr. J.W. Wallis conducted the service and Rainey Family Funeral Service was in charge of the arrangements.

Darlene Wehunt, organist, provided music and accompanied the Rev. Tommy Brett as he sang “In The Garden.”

Pallbearers were Anthony Chalker, Allen Futch, Sonny Hawkins, Wayne Duckworth, Joel Moore, Jeff Howell, John Selfe and Greg Keene.

Serving as honorary pallbearers were John Causey, James Woodward, Jimmy Saye, Randy Saye, Randolph Sowell, Len West, Terry Stinson, Derald Woods, Jimmy Claxton, Ronnie Spring, Ricky Crozier, Marc Johns, Ken Randall and Willie J. Arnold.

Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery in Wilcox County.

Mr. Hawkins 70, of Vienna died at his residence Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006.

Born Sunday, June 9, 1935, in Dooly County, he was the son of the late William Minor Hawkins and Susie Emma Self Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a retired civil engineer at Warner Robins Air Force Base. He was a member of Vienna First Baptist Church and a United States Air Force veteran. He was a past member of the Moose Club, American Legion Post 202 and a Mason.

Mr. Hawkins is survived by his wife, Norma Jean Hawkins of Vienna; two daughters, Shelia Bloodworth and her husband, Neal of Gray, and Sandra Randall of Vienna; two grandchildren, Chelsea Randall of Vienna, and Vincent Allen Bloodworth of Gray; two sisters, Emma Carolyn Chalker and her husband, Jerry of Centerville, and Eula Mae Futch of Lake City, Fla.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Alfred A. Hawkins Jr. and Allen Eugene Hawkins; two brothers, Charlie Hawkins and Otis Hawkins; and a sister, Annie Ruth Brown.

Memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Unit of Cordele Health and Rehab, 1106 N. Fourth St., Cordele, Ga., 31015.

Ann Ryals Anderson

BALDWIN — Audrey Ann Ryals Anderson, 66, of Baldwin died in Habersham County Medical Center in Demorest Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006.

She was born Sunday, Dec. 3, 1939, in Crisp County and was the daughter of the late James Oscar Ryals Jr. and Janet Porter Ryals. She taught in the Crisp and Habersham county public schools.

Funeral services will be held at Morningside Baptist Church today, Jan. 15, 2006, at 4 p.m. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery in Cordele.

She is survived by a nephew, Dondi Porter of Cordele; and a cousin, Dr. John Porter of Anaheim, Calif.
