Mary Lou Wade Galloway

AMERICUS—Funeral services for Mary Lou Wade Galloway, formerly of Cordele, will be held at 11 a.m. today from the graveside at Sunnyside Cemetery with the Rev. Damon Fountain officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:30 a.m. at the graveside.

Mrs. Galloway, a native of Crisp County, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.

She was born on Tuesday, April 29, 1919 to the late Charles Briggs Wade and the late Elah Lou Bedgood Wade. She was the widow of Woodrow F. Galloway and was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard Wade and Julian Wade, and a great-granddaughter, Pamela Williams.

She was retired from the garment industry. A charter member of Northern Heights Baptist Church in Cordele, she also was a member of the Cordele Chapter #793 of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Galloway, at the age of 72, was the oldest graduate of the Georgia Southwestern State University where she received degrees in English and history.

Survivors include her daughters, Remelle Wilbanks of Americus, Marcine Crozier of Pinehurst, Phyllis Thompson Casey of Americus, and Patti Britt of Albany; a sister, Opal Rich of Jacksonville, Fla; grandaughters, Harriett Wilbanks Williams of Americus, Marcia Crozier McCleskey of Pinehurst and Chris Tina Godfrey of Findlay; grandsons, Chip Dorough of Atlanta, Jonathan Dorough of Albany and Matt Thompson of Byromville; three great-granddaughters, one great-grandson, two great-great granddaughters and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that donations may be made to Northern Heights Baptist Church, 1102 E. Eighth Ave., Cordele, Ga. 31015 or Americus Hospice, P.O. Box 1434, Americus, Ga. 31709.

CORDELE — Funeral services for Thomas E. Massey were held at 2 p.m. Monday, Aug. 27, 2007 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Service with the Revs. J.T. Smith and Jon Earls officiating. Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.
