Parents organizing to fight for childrens educational rights

Dear Editor:

Dooly County parents have organized to fight for the educational rights of their children.

Because of the lawsuit against the Crisp County Board of Education filed by the U.S. Department of Justice, we as parents had to decide whether we would let our kids be forced out of the Crisp County school system or we would fight for their rights and the choice of school(s) to receive their education.

After contacting numerous organizations with our concerns, one very important entity heard our cry and decided to fight with us and for us.

Georgia Parents for Better Education is an organization that has had to deal with issues similar to the one that we face. They have succeeded in maneuvering ways to provide many cities as well as counties with different opportunities for children to receive quality education.

In this organization, sit concerned parents, community leaders, attorneys and other concerned entities. We were able to meet with one of those distinguished attorneys, who has now agreed to represent our organization - P.O.W.E.R.

We need the support of every concerned parent, entity, as well as community leader to support us. We are on a mission to collaborate with Dooly County and start positive results for both counties involved.

For anyone who has transferred kids to Crisp County from Dooly County, has kids in either system, or just simply is concerned about both schools, then you need to be contacting this organization.

It is VERY IMPORTANT for everyone to jump on board for it’s all about our children and the education that they receive.

If you are interested in any way, please contact our organization by calling or emailing the following officers: Shea Daniels: 229-268-5464 or shea4@uga.edu; Randy Lamberth: randyl203@yahoo.com; Gwen Maxey: 229-322-3486, or Stacey Peavy: ms.peavy1@hotmail.com.

Sincerely,

Shea Daniels
