Dear editor:
On June 10th, 11th and 12th, Crisp Regional Hospice sponsored the Fourth Annual Camp Sunshine Grief Camp for children. This was a wonderful time for the children in our community to come together and learn how to deal with loss in their lives.
At Camp Sunshine we had children ranging in ages from five to 16 in attendance. They participated in group counseling sessions, swim time, arts and crafts and on the last day they had a memorial service releasing balloons with the names of their loved ones on them.
Each day, our camp fed 13 children, five teen volunteers, six grief volunteers, 10 staff volunteers, and a PAWS Patrol consisting of four more adults. This would not have been possible had it not been for the love and kindness of so many people in our community!
Crisp Regional Hospice and all of Camp Sunshine would like to thank each of these sponsors: Adams Drug Store, Arrowhead Grocery, Bank of Dooly, Betty Scott, Betty’s Custom Framing, Brent Hawkins, Dash Foundation, Flower’s Thrift Store, George Gay, Harvey’s Supermarket, Health Products Plus, Hospice Pharmacia, Houston Baptist Campgrounds, Lamb’s Well Christian Bookstore, Salt Lick Sausage Co., Stripling’s General Store, Tish Peavy, and all of our volunteers.
A special thank you goes out to the members of the PAWS Patrol who donated their time and services to bring out their pet therapy dogs to spend special time with the children.
None of this would have been possible without each person’s diligent work and love! Our community has shown how much they care for their future by helping these children overcome their grief and personal losses. Thank you again!
Sincerely,
Cheryl R. Walls
