CORDELE — Things got tighter at the top of the standings after 14 pitchers turned out for for Tuesday night’s weekly competition of the Crisp Horseshoe Club.

Mary Ann Gibbs held onto first place by winning two of three games, but Bud Brake moved to within one game of her and is in second after winning all three of his games.

Ronnie Miller moved up to third and the group’s youngest pitcher, Ashley Gordon, moved into fourth. There is only a three-game gap from third to ninth so the standings could change in a hurry.

Gibbs had the best game of the year for ringer percentage when she pitched a game with 40 ringers in 50 shoes (80%). Not surprisingly, she also had high handicap game with a 168.

“We still welcome newcomers to pitch with us or just come and watch Mary Ann pitch,” club president Marcus Waters said. “It’s not everyday you see someone pitch as well as she does as she has the second highest ringer percentage in the Georgia Horseshoe Pitchers Association.”
