CORDELE — Watermelon Capital Speedway officials have released the results of last Saturday’s program and the schedule for a special event coming up this weekend.
The track will host on Saturday the ALS Georgia Asphalt Series 100 featuring NASCAR Sprint Cup driver David Ragan. Part of the proceeds from the ALS G.A.S. 100 will go to ALS to fight Lou Gehrig’s disease in honor of long time racer Bobby Boggus.
Also in action will be bandoleros, go-karts, claimers, mini-stocks, legends and pure stock.
Gates for fans and local racers will open at 4 p,m. with late model qualifying at 4:45, local classes at 5:30 and heat races at 6:30. The late model feature event is slated to begin at 9.
An open practice is set for Friday evening with gates opening at 5:30 and practice from 6:30-8:30.
The top finishers in the track’s six regular divisions on July 11 were:
Super Street — Cody Hale, Americus; Jason Price, Andersonville; David Woodard, Perry; Ralph Snowden, Fitzgerald; Landon Degraff, Barnesville.
Legends — Andrew Smith, Pooler; Alex Kempf, Vero Beach, Fla.; Steven Bloodworth, McIntyre; Cindy Anderson, Concord; Kim Kelley, Rochelle.
Pure Stock — Carlton Isreal, Leesburg; Justin Bridges, Unadilla; Billy Nipper-Cordele; Matthew Taylor, Ellaville.
Claimers — Wesley Burke, Cordele; Justin Butterworth, Cordele; Travis Harper, Cordele; Lance Spurling, Cordele; Jason Summers, Vienna..
