Wilcox hoop teams break even with visiting Clinch County

Rochelle — Wilcox High’s boys racked up their second largest victory margin of the season to date and its girls turned in one of their better offensive efforts of the campaign during a Friday split with Clinch County.

When the Patriots of coach Clint Bloodsworth beat the Panthers 71-37, the 34-point difference left them just two points shy of the 36-point spread they enjoyed in a 60-24 rout of Echols County eight games earlier.

While the Lady Patriots were unable to join their male counterparts in the win column at Clinch’s expense, the offensive production they got in a 54-40 loss was their third highest of the campaign to date.

In dividing the doubleader, Wilcox was left with records of 4-10, 4-3 (boys) and 1-13, 1-6 to take into home games they had last night vs. Telfair County. Their next start comes Friday at Echols County.

For complete details of both games, please see our Sunday, January 12 issue.
