Free throws key wins for Wildcat teams

Cordele — With free throw line results figuring prominently in both outcomes, Crisp Academy basketball teams got a Friday sweep of what once was one of the biggest rivals on their schedule.

Kayla Childers’ 6-for-7 accuracy from the charity stripe in the final eight minutes of play helped the  Class A Lady Wildcats stave off Terrell Academy’s Class AA Lady Eagles by a 46-36 score.

Although the Wildcats’ final free throw shooting percentage was far from being good, their 19 of 38 firing on gratis attempts was just enough to offset a 35-30 shortage in field goal points and give them a 51-49 win.

Those outcomes improved the records of the local private schoolers to 13-2 (girls) and 4-5 as they prepare to visit Tiftarea on Monday and travel to Grace Christian of Bainbridge on Tuesday in action tipping off at 6:30 p.m.
