Former Patriots getting shot at pro football careers

Rochelle — Former Wilcox High football standouts Willie Gibson and Lonnie Outlaw are about to embark upon what they hope will prove to be lucrative professional careers.

A member of the 2007 Patriot team that finished as the state runner-up to ECI, Gibson has been signed by the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League which many consider to be a farm system for the National Football League.

Outlaw, meanwhile, has been invited to participate in the Atlanta Falcons’ rookie mini-camp to be held this weekend.

A 2010 Wilcox High graduate who initially signed a scholarship with the University of Georgia but instead wound up attending his first two years of college at Georgia Military before enrolling at Miles College, Outlaw recently completed his college athletics eligibility.
