Bobcat thinclads place second in Class A state track meet

Jefferson — Dooly County High’s boys track team recorded its highest finish at the state level in more than two decades when it finished second to Hancock Central in last weekend’s Georgia Olympics.

The 58-point total amassed by coach Minnie Harper’s Bobcats fell just six shy of the 64 collected by Hancock Central in the Class A public school ranks.

“I’m extremely proud of the guys,” said Harper who considered the runner-up finish to be “a wonderful Mother’s Day present. “They really left it all on the track while registering a great performance that hasn’t been topped since our 1992 team of coach Harry Ward won state."
