For the first time in school history in any sport, Crisp County High will have back-to-back entries in Final Four competition.
Coach Bill Pate’s baseball Cougars earned that distinction Wednesday when they crushed Walnut Grove’s Warriors 13-3 in the third and deciding game of a best-of-three Class AAAA state playoff series.
The teams had previously split a Tuesday twin bill with the now 26-7-1 visitors taking the nightcap 6-3 after the home team that finishes 21-13 had won the opener 4-2.
Region 1-AAAA Crisp will be back at home for its next series that begins with a 4:30 p.m. Monday doubleheader against Region 5-AAAA member Alexander of Douglasville. If a third game is needed, it will be played at 4:30 on Tuesday.
For coach Pate's comments and game-by-game details of the series, please see our Friday, May 16, issue.
