Dooly girls avenge pair of regular season losses to Greenville

Vienna — In posting a hard-earned 60-55 Region 4-A semifinals win Monday over a Greenville team that was the only fellow region foe to beat it twice in the regular season, Dooly weathered a scary injury to its star player and another night of serious foul trouble.

Knocked to the floor when sandwiched between two Greenville defenders trying to strip her of the ball 5:23 from the finish with the Lady Bobcats out front 47-37, Quaneshia Tookes went out of the game.

She returned to action less than a minute later and quickly scored five points to make it 52-40 3:05 from game’s end. With 1:59 left and Dooly up 57-47, a woozy Tookes left the contest for good complaining of a severe headache and visual problems.

With 1:01 remaining, her father carried her in his arms to the dressing room. An ambulance later transported her to the hospital for overnight observation.
