CORDELE — The Cancer Coalition of South Georgia launched its annual Cancer STOMP team fundraising campaign in August. The campaign will be held this year in three locations across the Coalition’s 32-county service region. The Cancer Coalition raises funds for service, education, research and outreach initiatives throughout our area. That is why businesses, schools, civic groups, religious groups and families are encouraged to form teams. “We want to let people know that there is a local organization fighting cancer right here in our communities,” said Coalition Communications Coordinator Ruthie Garner. “With the Cancer Coalition, we assure you that 100% of your support will stay in South Georgia to help local people.”
The Crisp County Cancer STOMP Walk and Fun Celebration event is Saturday, September 12 from 9:00am to 12pm. It will be held again this year at the Georgia Veterans State Park. This year’s event will kick-off with a 1-mile reflective walk at 9:00am to honor survivors and remember those who lost their battle with cancer. The family fun activities will begin around 10:00. Teams, as well as individuals, can get involved by visiting www.cancerSTOMP.com to register. Participants will receive a t-shirt with a $25 donation upon registering.
“Last year’s STOMP raised more than $4,200 and we are grateful to the local businesses that have already joined the event this year as sponsors,” said Coalition Development Coordinator Doris Pierce-Hardy. Pierce-Hardy said, “ e are extremely grateful to our corporate partners Keystone Foods/Equity Group, MillerCoors, and Southeastern Federal Credit Union, and to our other sponsors: Marvair, Big Tex Trailers, Daniels Midland (ADM), Crisp Regional Health Services, Crisp Chamber of Commerce, PruittHealth Hospice and Advanced Disposal.” Sponsorships are still needed, along with teams, to raise funds and participate in the walk and celebration. Businesses are asking for donations to post STOMP prints and collecting change.

Cancer STOMP is a fantastic way to bring these communities together around a common goal – the local fight against cancer”, Pierce-Hardy states. Everyone is encouraged to get involved with this event in Crisp County.
