Wilcox man arrested in drug sting

A Wilcox man was arrested and faces multiple charges for his part in operating one of several marijuana grow houses, around th
Approximately one year ago agents with the Peach County Drug Enforcement Unit, consisting of members of the Peach County Sheriff’s Office, Byron Police Department, and the Fort Valley Police Department, along with the Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the GBI/DEA Task Force initiated and investigation into Jason Lang.
Information was received that Lang, who lives in Byron, Ga., was operating multiple marijuana “grow houses” around Middle Georgia. During the course of the investigation it was discovered that Lang waas operating grow houses in Houston, Crawford, Wilcox and Decatur Counties. It was also determined that he was bypassing the electrical meters on the grow houses to divert electricity.
The joint investigation led to multiple search warrants being issued.
On June 29, 2015 the Houston County Sheriff’s Office executed a warrant at an Orchard Way address in Perry where Johnathan Johnson was arrested. Johnson is charged with Manufacturing Marijuana,; Trafficking in Marijuana and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
On September 10, 2015 Members of the Peach County D.E.U., The Houston County Sheriff’s Office, the GBI/DEA Task Force and the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office executed a warrant at a Gordon Road address in Rochelle. Ernest Thompson was arrested at that residence and is charged with;: Manufacturing Marijuana; Conspiracy to Trafficking Marijuana; Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime. Thompson is currently being held at the Wilcox County Sheriff’s Office.
Three other warrants were also executed on September 10 resulting in multiple arrests.
Members of the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, along with GBI agents executed a search warrant on Dell Road in Bainbridge, Ga. Samuel Storey was arrested at that residence and charged with; Trafficking Marijuana; Possession of Cocaine; Interfering with a Public Utility and Possession of a Firearm during a Crime. Storey has been released on a $20,000 bond.
Authorities with the Peach County Sheriff’s Office and Peach County Emergency Response Team (comprised of the PCSO, The Byron Police Department, and the Fort Valley Police Department) and the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on Houze Road in Fort Valley (Crawford County). Mitchell Wright was taken into custody and charged with Manufacturing Marijuana; Trafficking Marijuana, Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Possession of a firearm during a crime.
A warrant was also executed by members of the Peach County Sheriff’s Office, the Peach County S.E.R.T., and the Byron Police Department at a Heyes Road in Byron, which is the residence of Jason Lang. He was arrested on charges of Consipracy to Manufacture Marijuana Conspiracy to Trafficking in Marijuana, and Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Crime. Jason Lang is currently being held at the Peach County Law Enforcement Center. Stephanie Lang was arrested and charged with Conspiracy to Trafficking in Marijuana.
The Peach County D.E.U., the Houston County Sheriff’s Office and The GBI/DEA Task Force conducted the searches except the residence in Bainbridge.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests could be forthcoming.
