CORDELE — A local group has come together to help bring Christ back into the Cordele-Crisp Community and are calling all believers of all faiths to come join in.
The Prayer Team is being led by Christians Danny Kimbrel and Pastor Lilly Weaver of Cordele, both say they have been seeing a need for prayer in the community for a long time.
“Over the last few months we have read stories about so many drug busts, shootings, gang activity and people getting killed,” said Danny Kimbrel. “Our men and women of law enforcement are doing a fine job as they work everyday to keep our community safe and rid our streets of crime. I applaud their efforts but it is time we as a community called on a Higher Power to help them out.”
Kimbrel said the mission of the Prayer Team is to go into these troubled areas and be a witness, pray for the community and help bring the lost to know Jesus.
The first step in this effort is a Prayer Walk that will take place on Saturday, September 26. Kimbrel said anyone wanting to participate should meet at the bus ramp at Crisp County Middle School at 8:30 a.m. The number of locations that will be visited will depend on the number of people who show up.
Danny said they are calling ALL believers of ALL denominations to come together for the walk.
“This is not sponsored by any church or any person,” he said. “This is a Jesus thing. It is all about God’s people coming together as one and asking Him to take the wheel and steer this community back in the direction it needs to be going. If you believe you can make a difference, if you believe in the power of prayer, come and join us and let’s get God back into our community where He belongs.”
Kimbrel said all citizens, all ages, all races and all religions are asked to come be a part of the prayer walk.
“Our communities, even our nation has turned away from God,” said Kimbrel, “The time has come to stand up in the name of the Lord.”
Kimbrel quoted from the Book of John, Chapter 17:20-23 which reads;
“My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one I in them and you in me so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
