Rochelle–Charlton County Indians may have thought they could just ease into  Rochelle, Ga. on a raiding party and take some scalps but the Continental Army boys in Wilcox decided against that.
In first quarter action the Patriots were holding the Indians down and the defenses were running the game. Finally after several series on offense the little scat back for Charlton broke free and man is he fast. Charlton went ahead of the Patriots 7-0. The “minutemen” went to the air and completed some bombs one from quarterback Tacarian Hunlen to Jordan Benjamin that was  a beautiful down the sideline pass. After squandering scoring opportunities the Patriots had the Indians pinned up back at their 5 yard line. I mishandled snap by the Charlton QB resulted in a safety and 2 points for Wilcox. After the Patriots got the ball again they scored on a 15yard pass from Hunlen to Benjamin and the score was 10-7 after a two point conversion was good.
Charlton would hit paydirt again on another long run but the PAT was no good and at half time The Indians held a 13-10 lead.
In the second half through the 3rd quarter the war raged on as Wilcox jumped ahead of Charlton on two touchdowns. The first was 20 yard toss from Landon Ledford to Dorian Hunlen and the second was a 69 yard strike from  Tacarian Hunlen to Jordan Benjamin. These two touchdowns made the score 22-20 Wilcox. Then the dogs got out. The wild Indians went on 23 point romp that was unanswered.
“I was proud of the boys and their effort tonight against a very good team they held there own for 3 and half quarters,” said head coach Mark Ledford. It was obvious that Charlton county had  alot more players and were wearing Wilcox down but to the Patriots credit the boys never stopped playing. The final of 43-22 is not a good indicator of the quality of the game it was.
