E-Z Stop falls victim to armed robbery

CORDELE — Investigators with the Cordele Police Department are currently on the lookout for a pair of suspects that robbed a local convenience store.
According to reports, officers responded to an armed robbery at E-Z Stop, located at 501 E 16th Ave. Cordele around 11:24PM on Thursday night. Store clerks described the suspects as two black males wearing masks.
An employee with the store said they were preparing to close the store for the night and the suspects were hiding on the right side of the building (facing the building). When the store clerk cut the lights off he said the suspects entered the store, demanding cash. Both suspects were carrying handguns. They took money from the register and fled the store. During the crime one store clerk was struck in the head by a weapon. He was taken to Crisp Regional Hospital for his injury and later released.
