Chief Robert Raymond “Ray” Lunsford

CORDELE — A celebration to honor and remember the life of  Robert Raymond “Ray” Lunsford of Cordele, Chief of Crisp County Fire Rescue, was held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Pinecrest Baptist Church.  Rev. Kenny Peters and Rev. Don Howell conducted the service and Sheriff Billy Hancock and David Edwards shared memories with those in attendance.  Donna Mallory, pianist, provided music.   Rhonda Bernecker sang “Beyond The Sunset” and The Men Of Pinecrest sang a medley of their music.  Pallbearers were Employees of Crisp County Fire Rescue. Deacons of Pinecrest Baptist Church and members of the Cordele Lions Club served as honorary pallbearers.   Chief Lunsford was carried for his last call by a fire engine to Big Creek Cemetery in Irwin County. Dr. David Grantham officiated the committal service and Susan Hobbs sang “In The Garden.”  Flags and Chief Lunsford’s personal helmet were presented to Kathryn Lunsford.  “Amazing Grace” and “Taps” were played by the Georgia Public Safety Pipe and Drum Corp.  Arrangements were by Rainey Family Funeral Services.  An online guest register is available at www.raineyfuneral.com
