CORDELE — A time to honor and remember the life of Gilbert Wayne Newman of Cordele will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday December 12, 2015 at Cordele First United Methodist Church.  The family will greet friends prior to the service Saturday at the church beginning at 10:00 a.m.
Mr. Newman, 76, passed away Sunday, December 6, 2015 at Crisp Regional Hospital.  He was born in Racine, WI to the late Ewald Newman and Minnie  Bollman Newman.  Mr. Newman was a veteran and served his country in the United States Air Force.  A graduate of the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, he was an accountant (RET) with Standard Register and served on the board of TLC Credit Union in Adrian, MI.  He was very much involved with Habitat For Humanity, both in Michigan and in the Cordele area. Mr. Newman was an active member of Cordele First United Methodist Church and the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class.  He also worked with the Food Bank in the church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Margaret Jean Newman of Cordele; two children, Peter A. Newman of Lawrenceville and Jennifer A. Newman of Decatur; two brothers, Ronald E. Newman and his wife, Linda and Dennis A. Newman, all of Racine, WI; a sister and her husband, Cheryl and Roger LaBrasca of West Des Moines, IA; and several nieces and nephews.  Memorials may be made to the  Cordele First United Methodist Church – % Food Bank, P.O.
