Margaret Sue Biggers Kennedy

CORDELE — Rev. Ray Sullivan and Rev. Richard Williams conducted funeral services for Margaret Sue Biggers Kennedy of Cordele  at 12:00 noon Tuesday, December 8, 2015 in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services.
Barbara Wood, pianist, provided music for the service.  Corey Clark, soloist, sang “No More Night” and “Go Rest High On That Mountain.” Frank McGarr sang “Sweet Beulah Land” at the close.  Pallbearers were grandsons, Matthew Kennedy, Mabry Kennedy, IV, Fenn Kennedy, Jaimie Kennedy, Matthew Young and Justin Douglas, and Wayne Bennett, Jim Mitchell, Fred Carter, Tom Carter, Hal Carter, Tim Carter and Millard Carter.  Honorary pallbearers were Joy Fellowship Sunday School Class and Cordele area bridge clubs.   The interment followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Maggie, as she was affectionately known,  passed away  Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Crisp Regional Hospital.  Born in Jacksonville, FL. she was the daughter of the late James Joseph Walton Biggers and Sammie Livingston Biggers.  A graduate of the University of Georgia, she received her Master’s Degree at Georgia Southwestern University and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority.  Maggie loved her family and doted on her grandchildren.  She was a therapist with Flint Mental Health and an active member of Cordele First Baptist Church and the Joy Fellowship Sunday School Class. She was a member of Cordele Art Alliance and the Thespian Society and served on the Board of Cordele Carnegie Library.  She was an avid bridge player and was a member of several clubs in the area.
She is survived by her children, a son, Mabry D. Kennedy, III and his wife, Teresa of Cordele, and daughter, Margaret K. Ponder and her husband, George of Tifton; six grandchildren and their spouses, Mabry Davidson and Claire Kennedy, Matthew J. and Amy Kennedy, Fenn and Kim Kennedy, Jamie Kennedy, Alexandria P. and Justin Douglas and Alexis Kennedy and Matthew Young; five great-grandchildren, Paxton Kennedy, Piper Kennedy, Jayden Kennedy, Ethan Kennedy and Isaac Young; and a brother and his wife, James J.W. and Janice Biggers of Columbus; and several nieces.
