CORDELE — Funeral services for Jodee Kitchens were held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015 in the chapel of Hughes & Wright Funeral Home. Rev. David Thompson officiated. Andy Earnest, soloist, sang accapella “As I Went Down to the River to Pray” and “Because He Lives.” Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
Former members of Jodee’s Girl Scout Troop 474: April Young, Kathleen Wright, Megon Walker Respress, Lizzy McLemore and Ashley Gee recited the Girl Scout Motto in memory of Jodee. The also sang a fun troop song they all use to enjoy singing, “My Leader Don’t Wear No Socks.”
Active pallbearers were Troy Williams, Russ Gay, Steve Southwell, Brian Rice, Rusty Parker and Mark Harper, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were former Girl Scout members April Young, Kathleen Wright, Megon Walker Respress, Lizzy McLemore and Ashley Gee. Also motorcyclists Charles Womack, David Crane, Wesley Herrington, Randy Whatley, Johnnie “Green Teeth” Blackwell and Ernie Nipper served as honorary pallbearers and provided an honorary escort for the procession..
