High school football in Georgia came to an end last week as seven teams were crowned State Champions. But there is no place where football plays a bigger role in the community then that played south of the gnat line.

The National Underclassmen has been tracking South Georgia Football religiously for the past three years. This past season both Colquitt County (15-0) and Clinch County (13-1) came home from Atlanta with hardware held above their heads.

At this time we would like to honor some of the top coaches and athletes from this past season. It is never easy singling out one player to bestow an honor.  But at the same time the athletes and coaches listed below had the production and more importantly helped guide their respective schools to victory.

South Georgia Small School’s consist of every school in GHSA A and AA that are below Macon all the way to the Florida border. It goes as far east as Savannah and as far west as Columbus. There will be more award winners in this group; simply put there are more A and AA schools in South Georgia ten the other four classifications combined.
